What Is Veterinary Laser Therapy?

Laser therapy uses light of a specific wavelength to help heal wounds, reduce pain, decrease inflammation, and improve circulation by enhancing the body's own healing processes. Research shows promising benefits, particularly for pain reduction, inflammation, and wound healing, though study quality and consistency vary and there isn't yet full scientific consensus on optimal treatment protocols across all conditions.

The same technology has been used in human rehabilitation for years and is gaining popularity in veterinary medicine as a drug-free treatment option for pets. When used alongside traditional treatment, laser therapy may help support faster recovery for many conditions.

Electrical muscle stimulation (TENS) is one of the most commonly used techniques in human physiotherapy and has become increasingly popular in veterinary medicine as well.

TENS electrotherapy is used on dogs to help treat musculoskeletal problems. It works by applying an electrical current to the muscles, stimulating contractions that help build strength and muscle mass. It's most commonly used in rehabilitation after orthopedic surgery, to help regain function and prevent muscle atrophy during recovery.
