And to ensure that we make fair and objective reviews for each of them, we formulated our own review process that we strictly follow.

That’s why we only review products and services that we have tried and tested for ourselves. Even if we have to shell out money to buy a product or to subscribe to a service, we will do it to give you a clear idea of what it’s like to use it.
2. Identify the Intended Purpose A product’s or service’s purpose is to provide a solution to an existing consumer problem. That’s why it’s important to know the intended use of a product or service: because that’s how we’ll know what to focus our reviewers’ goggles on when we write up our recommendations.

We mean this figuratively and literally.

The Edmonton West Animal Hospital is proud to say that we have been recognized as a Gold Standard Cat Friendly Practice by the American Association of Feline Practitioners, which means we incorporate the highest level of established cat-friendly criteria.
The American Association of Feline Practitioner developed the Cat Friendly Program to help support the ongoing needs of cats. The Cat Friendly Practice® program is leading the movement to make veterinary care less stressful for cats and their caregivers. The program provides support and in-depth, quality educational content to help veterinary professionals better understand the unique needs of cats. The aim is to reduce the stress on the cat for the visit, improve the quality of care and engage a supportive veterinary team. Program standards for the delivery of care to the feline population are research-based and represent the highest standards of feline medical care. To be considered for approval into the program, the practice has met the criteria on the checklist (110 cat specific standards), attended special training, reviewed educational materials, and designated a cat Advocate. That means our practice is equipped with specific equipment, staff knowledge, atmosphere and feline handling skills.
Edmonton West Animal Hospital is sensitive to the needs of both cats and pet parents therefore maintained its Cat Friendly Practice status since 2017. As a Cat Friendly Practice, our hospital has met specific criteria that demonstrates their unique ability to treat and handle feline patients gently and with respect. The Cat Friendly Practice® program helps veterinary teams stay ahead of best practices in feline medicine. As a result, cats and their caregivers will have a less stressful visit because the practice is tailored to felines’ specific needs.
AAHA-Accredited Hospitals: Champions for Excellent Care
Did you know that accreditation for animal hospitals is voluntary? Surprising, isn’t it? On top of our regular Alberta Veterinary Medical association accreditation – which all clinics in Alberta must pass – Edmonton West Animal Hospital has gone one step further with achieving American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accreditation. Nearly 60 percent of pet owners believe that their pet’s veterinary hospital is accredited when it is not. In actuality, only 12-15% of animal hospitals have gone through the accreditation evaluation process by AAHA. We are proud to call ourselves an AAHA-accredited hospital.
AAHA standards are recognized around the world as the benchmark for quality care in veterinary medicine. The accreditation process is rigorous and time-consuming, and not every veterinary hospital wants to go through the lengthy process. Accreditation by AAHA means that an animal hospital has been evaluated on approximately 900 standards of veterinary excellence. AAHA regularly evaluates our hospital to ensure that we meet or exceed the Association’s standards for patient care, hospital services and equipment. AAHA accreditation is considered the standard for veterinary excellence, and does not vary between states or provinces (AAHA accredits hospitals in both the U.S. and Canada).
